Just came across this on one of my “Where is it” contest pursuits. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen this or another similar-quality photo of the Yale shop buildings.
To answer Fred’s old question: from a copy of “Fire Insurance Inspection and Underwriting – 7th Ed.” (1953) in my personal library:
“TRANSITE BOARD – Called Asbestos wood. Composed of asbestos fibre and cement pressed together in sheets. Used in place of wood.”
Doesn’t Transite contain asbestos?
