    The yellow locomotive appears to be a GE SL144. There is photographic evidence this locomotive was in ?Kansas City, KS in 1978.

    According to the info on rrpicturearchives.net, this was a demo unit built in December 1976.

    We did try these GE units on the hump in Tulsa, and they were a complete flop. They wouldn’t pull anything to speak of up the hump from the bowl. The experiment did not last very long. When I ran them they were lone units, and I can’t imagine why the powers that be thought that these small units would work. I was told that the reason was to placate GE because of all the product that GE shipped on the Frisco. I don’t know if that was true or not, but thankfully, they went away quickly.
