Note the first article regarding the Frisco’s request to discontinue the River Division “Sunnyland” trains (807/808). Sunnyland was not discontinued until the broader, system-wide purge of passenger trains in September of 1965.

It is unfortunate that Railfax did not cite the reason why the Frisco dropped its petition. Also noteworthy is the abandonment of the NYO&W; it was the largest abandonment to that date. Other notable abandonments prior to this date were the Colorado Midland and the M&A.
