Looks like it underwent some type of rebuild — EMD long hood likely hides an EMD 567 prime mover.
Yes, all 5 of the frisco RS2s ( 550-554) were repowered by EMD and recieved GP long hoods ( some reports are that these were GP9 long hoods, but I have also heard GP18.)
The thing I noticed about this photo was that the spark arestors are rotated 90 degrees, as compared to those mounted on other units ( mostly GP7s, F and E units ).
