Following the assimilation of the Frisco into the Burlington Northern, BN began renumbering locomotives, cabooses, and some other rolling stock and covering SL-SF markings with “BN.” Repainting into BN colors would come in time for most of the equipment.

BN patched images are presented on the Frisco Archive for historical reference only. Although these images were taken following the demise of the Frisco, the images remain of value due to still being in Frisco colors.

This is an inner ring suburb, north of Minneapolis. The view is at Northtown Yard of the successor railroad, looking to the northeast, on the west side of the diesel shop. The bridge is 44th Avenue Northeast (also known as Anoka County Highway 2). The yellow exterior sand tower is no longer there.

Today, the large grain elevator complex is operated by General Mills.

East of the photo location, the elevator is at 25 44th Avenue Northeast and the current railroad’s Twin Cities Offices are at 80 44th Avenue Northeast.

Special thanks to Mark Davidson.
