One Response to VO-1000m 227

  1. Mark Davidson says:

SLSF 227 is a standard VO1000. This unit is a two stack variation which may have lead to some confusion. Frisco’s VO1000s came in 1, 2 and 4 exhaust stack variations. However, the hood over the engine compartment clearly shows typical Baldwin configuration, including vents, number boards, etc.

It was not repowered by EMD like its sister units 200, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 210 and 215. Only after repowering should these specific units be designated VO1000m (modified). Repowered units had new engine compartment hoods, with distinctive EMD characteristics.
