A lot to look at in this picture!
Great pic ! Train has just crossed the river and is heading into Cherokee Yard. The track lower left with the gleaming steel rails is the Eastern beginning of the Avard Sub. The building on the left and the ancient 3 dome tank car west of the fence are long gone today, now its a big gravel parking lot and an unloading port for crude oil trucks hauling crude from local oilfields into the Holley refinery (formerly Sunoco). The highway bridges crossing the Arkansas River have been demolished and replaced in the last few years. …..funny how they have to replace the highway bridges every so often but the rail bridges seem to last for decades and decades.
