A number of locomotive photos posted on this site are attributed to Vernon Rider. He certainly did a wonderful job documenting the Frisco’s motive power over the railroad’s last 10 years or so of operation.
At one time, Mr. Ryder sold duplicates of his photos. I purchased several high-quality duplicate color slides from him sometime in the early 1990s after seeing his advertisement in a railfan publication. The subjects were locomotives from a variety of railroads. I know it’s been many years since I’ve seen his advertisements, but I wonder if he is still active in the business.
Mr. Ryder is certainly to be commended for his work.
