U30B 5796 (Frisco 859) and GP38AC 2135 (Frisco 659) at Memphis, Tennessee in March 1981.
This is the Mechanical Department’s service tracks area at Tennessee Yard. On the right is the metal diesel shop with one story shop and storage space addition to its South. Visible are rectangular, downward facing area lights and one of the two silver painted, fixed sand towers at the North end of the service tracks 1, 2 and 3.
The view is looking Northeast.

The locomotive is sitting in the mechanical department’s service tracks area. In the background to the northeast (left) are the elevator and bulk storage silo for locomotive sand and the diesel shop. Parked alongside is a remote service truck with fuel and sand to resupply locomotives away from the terminal.
In the far distance to the right of the locomotive are the 3 circus style loading and unloading ramps for trailers on flatcars (TOFC) service. Just north of this area, near the northeast end of the yard is the locomotive turntable.
The view is looking east northeast.
