U25B 817
U25B 817 Tulsa, OK in April 1976.
This is the Mechanical Department’s service tracks area at Cherokee Yard. The locomotives are sitting on service track one, just southwest of the new metal diesel shop.
Above the cab of the subject locomotive is a silver tank and bucket elevator for bulk sand storage. Traction sand is pumped by air to the yellow locomotive loading gantry standing over the cab of U25B 817.
The view is looking northwest.

Frisco-built 4-8-2 4302 with Train #38 at Southeastern Junction in 1942 (William K. Barham).
GP38-2s 686 and 667
GP38-2s 686 and 667 lead a train at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on November 13, 1973.
In the background you can see Union Station and to the right of the train is the Rock Island main line. The photographer appears to be on the ATSF right-of-way.
Incidentally, this scrapyard shipped a lot of cars of scrap on the Frisco. This scene has changed today with the new I-40 now located between the scrapyard (which is gone) and the RI (now UP) main line.
