
GP7 582 at Kansas City, Missouri on July 3, 1977 (John Benson).

According to the book Frisco Folks by William E. Bain, 1271 was involved in an accident at Wichita, Kansas on the day before Thanksgiving 1924. The engineer was killed in the mishap, caused by a broken rail. The engine was towed to Springfield, rebuilt, and never returned to Wichita.
