Note the U30B in the back, #859. It is sans-number boards on the long hood, with the numbers appearing to have been stenciled onto the top of the white stripe. I’m not sure I’ve seen this before: does anyone know if it was unique to this unit or was this a more common practice?
I didn’t find any notes in the list of U30B dispositions that would indicate any post-wreck shopping or other causes for something that would appear to be rather out of the ordinary.
