Here we see SLSF #2004 and another EMD EA7 in the original, as delivered paint scheme to match the Texas Special livery minus the MKT herald. Later with the arrival of the E8A units, the EA7s were repainted to mimic the new livery sported by the E8As.
The Frisco followed EMD’s original naming convention for the E units; prior to the release of the E8s, EMD placed the A or B type designation between the series letter and the generation number, i.e. EA1, EB6, EA7. With the release of the eighth generation, EMD switched to placing the type, A or B, in between the series and generation designations, i.e. E8A, E8B.
