The photograph was taken from the employee parking lot northeast of the Springfield Diesel Shop at Springfield Yard (SY). Springfield Yard is also known (aka) Kansas Avenue Yard or West Yard. The switch engine locomotives are on the Clinton Subdivision. By this time the line had been cut back on the south end to the Bolivar Branch. In Springfield the track also led to the diesel fuel unloading tracks, West Shops complex, Benwood Yard, ribbon rail, panel track and tie treating plants.
The locomotive is coupled to another multiple unit (MU) equipped VO1000m. The locomotive is either SLSF 202, SLSF 203 or SLSF 204. These units were used in Springfield in the late 1970s, just before they were retired in July 1979. All three of these units were retired in black and yellow paint. Unfortunately, with the lower cab obstructed from view and image focus we cannot narrow the specific locomotive further.
The locomotives were among nine Baldwin units repowered by General Motors (GM) Electro-Motive Division (EMD). EMD installed their 12-cylinder 567C engines and replaced the forward compartments with twin stacked SW1200 hoods. The first three units converted in 1957, SLSF 205, 210 and 215, did not have MU equipment installed when repowered. The six others repowered in 1959, SLSF 200-204 and 206, also included the installation of MU equipment.
To the left of the locomotives, east of the diesel shop is an unidentified General Motors (GM) Electro Motive Division (EMD) unit, possibly a 400 series GP38-2. Further back is a corner of the diesel shop building addition extension over tracks 2-4 and high bay with craneway over tracks 1-4.
Location is Springfield Missouri.

View is looking southwest.
Hope this helps.
Thanks!
