One Response to U25B 807

  1. Mark Davidson says:

    Location is “off the property”.

The locomotive was built as one of the four original General Electric (GE) high nose U25B demonstrator locomotives, GE 756. Released in January 1961, the locomotive toured the country for the builder on various railroads. It was sold, repainted and shipped to the Frisco on 12/8/1961.

After service on the railway, the locomotive was retired and traded in to GE by the railroad on 9/28/1977. Note in the image the Frisco name on the car body side has been removed or covered with white paint.

The locomotive would have been returned to the General Electric plant at 2901 East Lake Road, Erie, Pennsylvania. Given the date of the photograph is almost a year later, the unit could have been refurbished and out on lease or headed for scrapping.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Mark
