Don't know if it would be of interest to anybody, but while in Midsouth Hobbies in Memphis I noticed they had a used copy of Rails Rivalry and Romance for sell.

Great book with a boatload of"Frisco-ish" stuff (articles, photos, etc.) around the Fort Scott area. MP and Katy too.

A true labor of love by Don Banwart of Fort Scott. It is about 30 years old now. The bookstore at the fort had a few new copies in stock up to about 3 or 4 years ago, but they are all gone now. Why I didn't buy a new copy then I will never know. My book is flat worn out - the spine is held together with a few threads and a lot of love!

Yes, this is a good book. I have one. This book does appear on eBay from time-to-time so if seeking one, I suggest saving a search.

    Actually, one on now.

It's a good book and after you go through it, you'll almost feel like you lived in Ft. Scott.

Don Banwart, the author, is the editor of the Katy Railroad Historical Society's newsletter ("The Katy Flyer"). You can probably contact him through the KRHS. He may have some left over books or know where some copies are. Somebody on here prpbabaly has his or the KRHS's email address.

    Tom,

Sorry I didn't price it when I saw it, I had no idea they would be asking that much for it.

I just had a meeting with Don a couple of weeks ago. I'm an Account Executive for Con Way Freight. He owns Sekan Printing in Fort Scott. Has an office on site and spends a fair amount of time there. Super nice guy and I find we talk more about the Katy than his LTL freight. :) He has a ton of stuff stashed away in his building. He sold me a super nice print of a a painting he had commissioned. Some MKT GP38's passing by the Sedalia, Mo Katy depot. I had it framed and it's hanging in my home office.

If you were to call Sekan Printing and ask for Don I'm sure he wouldn't mind. He still spends a fair amount of time traveling to train shows and selling product.
