I best as I can determine, the Birmingham Terminal Company (BTC) was owned the Birmingham Terminal Station depot and controlled only the trackage, which served the depot. The Frisco, one of six railroads, owned a piece the BTC. A random check of several 1940s annual reports listed the value of the Frisco’s shares at $25,000. A recent acquisition, this map show the extent of the Terminal’s trackage. As built, the trackage was governed by two manual interlocking towers, one located at each end of the depot. During 1945, the Terminal Company replaced the manual system with an all-relay General Railway Signal (GRS) Company plant which was operated from a panel in the operator’s office of the depot. The Frisco and the Illinois Central (IC) Railroad utilized the south-end coach yard, and Frisco diesel passenger power laid-over on the Ramsey track, which is shown just above the north arrow December 29, 1945 Track Arrangement Birmingham Terminal Station Only five signal aspects were used to allow trains to enter or leave the depot. Frisco trains entered and left from the north.
