  1. Terry Jankowski says:

This train is west bound on the north main (as it was called in the Frisco days) with the middle track being the south main with the house lead closest to the camera. At the switch up the house lead storage one (Trenton street storage) is the straight track with storage two on the right. The single track in the lower right hand corner went to a couple of spots where we would spot box cars at a roofing company and occasionally flat steel at another spot. That lead was scary because just out of view of the camera the grade became an EXTREME descending grade, and if the track was wet I couldn’t hold the car(s) with the engine and car brakes. It would just start sliding. There was no danger of flat spots on the engine because it was just like skating. I would regain control when he grade flattened out. In front of the engine and out of sight of the camera is Madison street crossing with gates. The gates would not actuate on the house lead until the engine was right at the edge of the crossing. There was a large industrial building on the south side of the house lead which made visibility impossible for traffic northbound on Madison. I hated that crossing because of that.
This picture certainly brought back memories for me. At the time this picture was taken, I was working a day light hump job which was the job I had when the Frisco disappeared.
