This is a hump set heading into the west end of RD10 to presumably get a train that has been worked by the car department and bring it to the hump. These units provided more horsepower to drag heavier cuts, but I did not like the throttle as the FMs they replaced had a rheostat throttle as opposed to the eight position throttle of the SW1500s. The rheostat throttle allowed us to make incremental adjustments as the cut became lighter as cars were humped. With the SW1500s we had to work the brake against the throttle to make those small adjustments. The brakes squealed (due to metal brake shoes) on these units which was annoying. Terry
