The locomotive is entering into in East Yard, MP 539.5, from the Chickasha Subdivision. The yard is southeast of the downtown central business district, south of the North Canadian River. The yard is sandwiched between Interstate 35 (I-35) on its eastern boundary and South Byers Avenue and the river on its west end. Today, after improvements and a new bridge was constructed, the roadway has been renamed South Lincoln Avenue.
East Yard is the separation point between the Oklahoma Subdivision – Sapulpa, MP 437.2, to Oklahoma City, MP 539.5, to the east and the Chickasha Subdivision – Oklahoma City to Quanah, TX, MP 723.3, to the west.
This General Motors (GM) Electro-Motive Division (EMD) GP38-2 locomotive is riding on standard Blomberg B trucks. Many of our GP38-2 units rode on the newer Blomberg M or modified trucks. Over time the railroad interchanged or swapped trucks between units during shop maintenance.
Near the center right edge of the image is the single-track Oklahoma City diesel shop.
Location is Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
