GP7 545 just south of Bonita, Kansas (date unknown).

This is the Kansas City Sub-Division northbound local at “Old Cross-Over D” (MP C26+20–MP 26+28). At the time of the photograph, the East Main had been retired (1965), and this became the end/beginning of doubletrack. CWR was laid on the West Main north of Cross-Over D during 1967, so this photo post-dates 1967.

To the far left of the photo modern day South Woodland Road is visible, and at the far right, background U.S. 169 is visible.

Special thanks to Karl Brand.

Yep that’s the beginning of the Bonita roller coaster ride…I spilled more coffee & cleared more desks between here & Spring Hill than I can remember, real nasty spot…They put the double track back in a couple of years ago.
